On 27th June 2019, I received a phone call that every owner dreads, Oakley was found hopping lame around the field. The vet was called and after a mis -diagnosis from a vet we finally had him x-rayed and it wasn’t good news. Oakley had a bad mid body sesamoid fracture. I decided to go ahead with box rest and hoped he could be fixed with a operation, however, when they open Oakley’s leg up the fracture was far worst then first thought( he has a lot of hair line fractures that didn’t show on the X-ray). Tara stepped up and asked if she could spend time with Oakley using all natural products, light therapy, oils, herbs and massage. I have to admit before this I didn’t think this way of healing would help such a bad fracture and judging on how the vets were explaining this to me, I was convinced he would have to be PTS.
Tara had only worked with Oakley for a matter of about a week before his next X-ray, this result still wasn’t good news and his chances of a recovery was very low. Tara didn’t give up hope and was very pleased with the way she felt Oakley was reacting to her sessions. Each night I got to the yard Tara was in with Oakley offering him difference natural oils, products and massages to keep him relaxed, she would talk me through what the products and oils did and how he would choose what he needed. It become very interesting to see him react the way he did.
Tara had been now working with Oakley for around 10 weeks and the day I was dreading was upon us. It was X-ray day to see if we should continue his box rest or let him go. When the vet came out he took the X-ray and had to double look at the X-ray. He wasn’t sure the screen was working so took another X-ray and said to me ‘ I can’t believe this is the same bone, have I got the right leg’. Oakley’s leg had healed beyond anyone’s belief! I mentioned to him about Tara and his response was ‘ you have her to thank for giving you your horse back and I’m sure Oakley’s very greatful’.
I asked if he believed in natural healing.. he said he did but was shocked by the result and this was all thanks to Tara’s commitment not only to Oakley but also to her work that she is so passionate about.
Tara as a person is kind and caring and is very naturally talented around horses. She can make even the most stressed horse feel at ease.
So again thank-you again Tara I owe you the world! ☺️
